Current Research
Harmony & Modality in Shostakovich's Symphonies 4-10
I've been awarded a Doctoral Fellowship from the federal Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) for 2008-09 to support my research of the music of the Russian composer Shostakovich. The title of my research paper is "The View from Within: How Russian Music Theory Illuminates Harmony and Modality in Dmitriy Shostakovich's Middle-Period Symphonies (1937-1953)".
